1. Participation and Eligibility: Participation is open to anyone 18 years of age or older. Minors are eligible to participate with a parent or legal guardian signature on the release form. All participants represent that they are physically and mentally competent, as well as fit and able to participate in the event. By entering, all participants agree to assume all risks of personal injury, death, damage or loss of property and further agree to indemnify Get:Outdoors, it’s officers, members, agents, and sponsors harmless from and against all claims, liabilities, and causes of action resulting directly or indirectly from participation in the event.
2. Registration and Captains Meeting: Registration will begin at 6:00 pm on Friday April 9th. All participants must sign the medical release waiver at registration. The captain’s meeting will immediately follow registration. During the captain’s meeting rules will be explained and any questions will be answered. All participants must attend the captain’s meeting unless prior arrangements are made with tournament officials.
3. Fishing License: All participants must possess a valid NC freshwater fishing license. Fishing licenses are required by law for individuals of 16 years of age or older. Licenses can be purchased online at www.ncwildlife.org.
4. Safety: Safe boating must be observed at all times. A Coast Guard approved PFD (life jacket) must be worn and fastened at all times. A sounding device (whistle or horn) is required to be on board as well. Any participant not properly wearing his or her PFD will be disqualified. It is highly advisable that all participants wear a proper form of eye protection. All participants are required to take personal responsibility by operating in a safe manner.
5. Sportsmanship: Contestants are expected to exhibit high levels of conduct prior to, during, and after the event. Use of alcohol or illegal substances are strictly prohibited anytime during or prior to the event.
6. Boats: Eligible watercraft includes canoes and kayaks. Watercraft may only be powered by a paddle or oar. Electric or combustion motors and the use of sails are prohibited. Hobie, Native Watercraft, or like pedal drive systems are allowed. No towing is allowed. A maximum of two participants are allowed in a single watercraft and participants may not be accompanied by anyone not officially registered as an angler with the exception of a contestant who is under the age of 18, thereby requiring a parent or legal guardian, however the contestant must paddle as well.
7. Location: The following locations are allowed for fishing: Lake Brandt, Lake Higgins, Lake Townsend, Lake Reidsville, Belews Creek, Lake Mackintosh, High Point City Lake, Randleman Reservoir, and Oak Hollow Lake.
8. Launching: Launching may be done as soon as lakes open. This time may vary from lake to lake. In the event that a lake does not have a specified opening time, anglers may not launch before 6:30 am. Anglers must launch from designated launching areas.
9. Fishing: During competition, contestants must abide by all regulations stated by the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission and the Greensboro Parks and Recreation department. During the stated fishing time, anglers may not receive aid from others in casting, baiting, fighting or landing fish. Contestants may receive aid with tangled lines, tying knots, removing hooks (hopefully from fish) and photographing their fish. Participants must remain in watercraft at all times (lake’s rule). Watercraft may be exited and reentered from the launch site during the allotted fishing hours. All fish must be caught on rod and reel via hook and line from the watercraft. Permitted baits may include artificial or natural as long as they meet the requirements of the NCWRC. Prohibited: Use of game fish as bait. No snagging, gigging, trotlines, jug-hooks seine, drift or other nets are allowed. Nets may be used to land fish. All fish must be released. Anglers competing in the fly division may only have fly fishing equipment on their craft.
10. Scoring All fish will be scored by photo release. The longest largemouth bass in inches will win the largemouth division. The longest fish (any species) in inches will win the fly fishing division. All fish must be measured with the provided measuring device. Contestants are eligible to win first place in only one category and will not be considered for additional places within the same category or first place in the remaining categories. This will grant others a greater opportunity to place 1st in the remaining divisions.
11. Photo Release: Proper photo-scoring requires that the participant take a picture of his or her boat prior to launching. In all eligible pictures, fish must be shown lying flat on the official measuring device with the front of the fish’s jaw on “0” and the tail being in an un-pinched position. Fish must be measured with the mouth closed. Please photograph all legally caught fish. In the largemouth bass division, all largemouth over 14” are eligible. Scoring and wining contestant photos remain the sole ownership of Get Outdoors, Greensboro, N.C. and may be used at their discretion. Contestants grant Get Outdoors and event sponsors the unconditional right to use their name, photographic likeness and biographical information in connection with Get Outdoors tournaments, promotion, articles, and press releases without entitlement to any royalties or other compensation in connection with their use.
12. Back to the dock: All participants must return to the weigh-in station by 4:00 pm in order for one’s photos to be eligible. The photo weigh-in will begin at 1:00 pm. Each angler may only submit his or her photos one time. In the event of a tie, winners will be based on the time of weigh-in.
13. Protest: All protests must be made in writing and submitted to a tournament official prior to 4 pm.
14. Rule Changes and Enforcement: Tournament officials have exclusive interpretation and enforcement of all rules. All rule changes, infractions, and disqualification decisions will be made solely by the Tournament officials and are not subject to appeal. |
